Having joined the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in 1992, Ms Hargitai has worked in various positions at EBRD, including as country manager in the Western Balkans, Hungary and Croatia. Recently, she was Director for Country Strategy and Results Management.

As of April 2016 she was Director of EU Funds Co-Financing & Financial Instruments in the Banking department that works on identifying leads for and structuring, investment and advisory services under EU financing facilities, including the European Structural and Investment Funds in EBRD’s EU countries of operations as well as designing and working with financial instruments with EU support, like the External Investment Plan, across EBRD countries of operations, with focus on mobilisation of commercial and private sector financing.

With effect from 01 April 2018 she has been appointed to the role of Director, Regional Head of Western Balkans.

The EBRD is an international financial institution established in 1991 and its shareholders are from 66 countries from five continents plus the European Union and the European Investment Bank. It supports the development of competitive, inclusive, green, resilient, well-governed and integrated market economy, through investments (€9.4 billion in 2016) and advisory services, in Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean and Central Asia.
