Meeting with the Ambassador of Moldova

On Tuesday, October 18th, the Chairmen of the Organizing Committee of the Balkans & Black Sea Forum, Mr. Giannis Balakakis and Ambassador (a.h.) Mr. Michael B. Christides welcomed at the Forum’s premises the Ambassador of Moldova, H.E. Mr. Andrei POPOV.

The meeting took place in view of the 4th edition of the Balkans & Black Sea Forum to be held in Athens on 5-6 December 2022. The two sides had a constructive exchange of views concerning the high-level participation of Moldova to this year’s Forum, which is organized at a time of tumultuous geopolitical, economic, and power-shifting challenges influencing the global scene and the socioeconomic equilibrium of many regions.

Meeting with the Ambassador of North Macedonia

In view of the 4th edition of the Balkans & Black Sea Forum to be held in Athens on 5-6 December 2022, Mr. Giannis Balakakis and Ambassador (a.h.) Mr. Michael B. Christides, Chairmen of the Organizing Committee of the Balkans & Black Sea Forum 2022 were received earlier today at the premises of the Embassy by the Ambassador of  North Macedonia, H.E. Ms Lidija Boshkovska.

The two sides had a constructive exchange of views concerning the high-level participation of North Macedonia to the Balkans & Black Sea Forum 2022, which is organized at a time of tumultuous geopolitical, economic, and power-shifting challenges influencing the global scene and the socioeconomic equilibrium of many regions.

EU Commission to recommend Bosnia-Herzegovina be granted EU candidate status

The European Commission will recommend granting candidate status to Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of its annual enlargement report on Wednesday (12 October), EURACTIV has learnt.

Bosnia and Herzegovina has been a potential candidate for EU membership since 2003 and formally applied for it in February 2016 and the Commission identified in 2019 14 key priorities for the country to fulfil in view of opening EU accession negotiations.

The European Commission’s recommendation will not immediately change BiH’s chances of obtaining candidate status, but would be a message that would help in the implementation of the necessary reforms and the fulfilment of conditions by the country, people familiar with the matter told EURACTIV.
